9 weeks under our belt

This week represents a few milestones-our little one is no longer an embryo and is now considered a fetus.  This week represents our first official visit with an OB (you know, like a regular patient) and this week also represents pants that don't button.

We had our first OB appointment today - what a beautiful practice!  We were there almost 3 hours.  First we did the ultrasound-the tech was very "all business" but she explained that she would turn the monitor and explain everything once she got all her shots, so we held our breath, but finally saw this huge looking blob on the screen that looked like a BABY and then we saw the heartbeat flickering away inside a distinguishable chest area.  176bpm!  Baby measuring right on track at 9w1d.

Next we saw the NP -we will alternate visits between her and our doctor.  She went through all of our medical history, diet requirements, etc.  We talked a bit about what role her Stage 4 Endo might play in this pregnancy.  It can mean some complications, including pre-term labor, c-section, preeclampsia, and antepartum bleeding, but it just means additional monitoring closer to the middle of the pregnancy going forward.  Our vanishing twin was still showing on the ultrasound, measuring at 5 weeks, so they said it would eventually absorb back into her uterus (weird) but they snuck in another ultrasound at 12 weeks (Feb 11) just to check on its progress - Yay!!

Then she got a pap smear, bloodwork, and a flu shot - as well as a "bag" - it was a nice little tote bag with a pregnancy week to week guide book and some sample prenatal vitamins - felt pretty darn official.

Symptoms are pretty much the same-she hasn't had any nausea for 3 days....ok by her - we just aren't allowed to use perfume these days-sends her over the edge.

Still can't figure out the slideshow situation- I tried the Picasa thing but when I go to load it as a widget on my blog, it says I have no public albums, and I can't figure out how to change that?  Then I set up a Flickr account and still no luck...

  3. i just teared up in my office. so much excitement for you all. and so much love.

urgh, morning sickness. mine hit hard and last for the entire first trimester. nothing but bed from 6pm - 8am. it was a joy. i dropped a ton of weight. but then the 2nd trimester hit and it was MAGICAL. the only issues were that i suddenyl hated spinach (my fav), i drank milk by the gallon, and i could only eat yogurt with a plastic spoon. go figure.

    love.
