Continued Complications with Mama

A few days after we got home from the hospital, DW spiked a fever of 101 overnight.  We called the doctor right away and she slipped us into a triage room in L&D the next morning rather than making us wait agonizingly in the ER with a 10 year old and a newborn -thank god for compassion!  She fully checked her over and found absolutely no other symptoms of infection.  Her incision looked clean, her uterus was shrinking like it was supposed to, etc so they sent us home.

Next day went fine, night after that at about 8pm-she spiked another fever of 100.00 and we called the doctor again.  She also graciously spared us the trip to the ER and called in a rx for Augmentin and asked us to come into the office for a full workup on Tuesday morning at 7:30.

So I left my poor newly appointed fifth grader to fend for himself and make the bus for his first day of school and we packed up and left the house about 15 minutes before he would be catching the bus.  We got stuck in more than 2 minutes of first day of school bus traffic -booooo.  Got to the office, had the workup done, including bloodwork -which they said they would only call if levels were elevated.

Her doctor indicated that what they were concerned about is an abscess as a result of all of the trauma her poor gut went through.  If it were a small abscess, they could do a relatively simple procedure to drain the abscess.  If it were a big abscess, we could be looking at another surgery.

Doctor's office called -DAMNIT.  Her white blood cell count is elevated so they are scheduling a CT Scan for this Friday to take a closer look...

Her folks are coming to finally meet their granddaughter on Saturday evening and staying for a week.  I am glad especially because I am supposed to be going back to work next week.  If she needs a procedure, obviously I won't go back until she jumps that hurdle, but it may be nice to have an extra set of hands around the house -there is a lot going on here between the newborn forgetting to sleep all night, a school grade child to get to and from school daily and homework to contend with, football practice, the housework, laundry, etc.

We have had a few friends really go above and beyond for us and I don't think they have any idea how much this means to us.

And last but not least, here a few pictures -just because who wants to READ a blog with no pictures!
