UnWrapped

So I just skyped with my brother who has just arrived half way around the world to Kuwait. Incredibly humbling experience to see where he will call home for the next nine months or so...

I learned yesterday that my old employer is all but shutting down in 6 months which is incredibly sad to me, but also makes me grateful for the opportunities we have found in VA. Everything happens for a reason and there seem to be so many that remind us we truly made the right decision for our family. Its hard to be separated from our families by distance but everyone seems to be putting in the extra effort required to make it work. Financially, things are tight, but we make a very good living and are far better off than many others, so again we are grateful....tis the season to be thankful after all, right?

Today was Mary's first day back at the RE since the miscarriage follow up back in early September. It felt like no time had passed really. She went in for an ultrasound to check her lining since she has been taking the Estrogen for the past 8 days. RE said her lining was 7mm, and he was "ok" with that but indicated her lining had been at 8mm for the first transfer, so he added Estrogen patches every other day, to her current regimen to see if we could get it closer to 8mm by the time we get to transfer.

She will need to go back in for one final ultrasound before her snowbabies are dethawed on Monday November 29th, at which time she will begin the Progesterone in Oil shots (OUCH) and this is the day we will need to put up the cash as well, so (OUCH) on a few levels I suppose.

RE said that he will dethaw the 5 early embies first and see how they do-he said we can likely expect that 2/3 of them will survive the thaw, but if for some reason, none survive, we still have the two blasts frozen that we can use for this transfer.

The nurse was kind enough to not only give us enough estrogen patches to get her through, but also gave her 10 packages of sample prenatal vitamins...which getting to the title of this post, I have lovingly unwrapped each individually wrapped pill and stored in her folic acid pill bottle for easy access....I can't offer much to this process so I'm hoping the little things will be helpful.

We are still slated for transfer on December 2nd....and still hoping for a Christmas miracle.
