Had the follow up ultrasound today and a few curveballs...there were TWO sacs and one of them had the faintest little heartbeat (about 60bpm) and while that was encouraging to see, Doc said it still does not change her prognosis and says that there is 0% this will develop into a normal baby or pregnancy. And although he cannot predict when she will miscarry - he still suspects it will be in the first trimester. The 1st sac wasn't clear last week in u/s but it was very clear today, he said it was measuring about 2.5 weeks behind schedule (about 4.5 weeks along when she should be 7.3) and the other sac where we saw the littlest flicker he said was about 1.5 weeks behind, measuring at 5.5 weeks.
Honestly, this would have been easier if we had never seen a heartbeat but now it's 10x harder to terminate. With the heaviest of hearts we scheduled a D&C for Friday believing that these were not our meant-to-be-babies and that our babies are currently taking a chilly nap as snowbabies.
We learned that she CAN get pregnant and that embies can implant and grow, so we have to take all this in as positively as we can.
Well fuck me. You poor ladies can NOT get a break. I call "uncle" on your behalf... :(
