Quick update, appt this morning went, well, not so good. RE didn't see the cyst on the ultrasound but her E2 levels came back elevated at 457, he would have liked to see them somewhere between 50-150 I guess SO, we aren't totally out for this cycle but we won't know for sure until next week, but starting the stims is on hold. Basically, the thought is that the cyst actually produced and released an egg which is why the elevated levels - the good news is that it appears as if this happened a little while ago, therefore, in theory, she should be getting some sort of bleeding or period in the coming days and if that happens, her levels will drop drastically and we can still start stims, it would just push everything out a week or so. If not, then we will need to bypass this cycle and try again later. When I asked the RE why all this was important and relevant, he told us that historically, women who try to stimulate with already elevated levels tend to respond poorly to stims because your body is essentially competing with itself and the original "organic" egg it produced on its own - all very interesting.
We have our own annoying time constraints as well because DW's sister is getting married this year and our whole family is in the wedding of course and we got through the shower already but still need to contend with the bach party and then the actual wedding, and its all 8 hours out-of-state so can't commit to IVF treatment if we are never home! Plus, the lab CLOSES for 3 weeks in August - UGH - so honestly if this doesn't go, we are likely looking at September, which annoys and frustrates the hell out of me and although I think she was clearly disappointed she seemed more even keeled about waiting until the time was right because its a lot of money and we want to do it right the first time and hopefully make the first time, the last time. She goes back in today for follow up progesterone bloodwork and then is to call with the onset of bleeding OR go in for another ultrasound and bloodwork next Wednesday - whichever happens first.....OH the drama of it all...
